Fellow Supporters:
1999 Performance

1999 was a year of considerable progress.  The UHPGC Board of Directors has come a great distance in terms of identifying the goals, objectives and vision of the Personal Growth Center.  Milestones and timelines have been determined for all of the activities undertaken by the units operating under the auspices of the UHPGC.  The only fully operational programs under the UHPGC a the close of the fiscal year were the Child Development Center and the Operation Nehemiah Program.  Owing to the lack of adequate administrative staff (financial) the Child Development Center's financial accounting was handled by the Union Hill P. B. Church Financial Management Team.  Operation Nehemiah is the only fully operational unit with financial services performed by the UHPGC.  This program was a tremendous success as it completed its sixth year of operations.

1999 was not without its challenges.  The demand for the Operation Nehemiah - Quality of Life Program was overwhelming.  We were unable to serve all the young people desiring entrance into the program due to the size of the volunteer pool and facility restrictions beyond the campus. We were limited in the number of students who could participate in local off-site activities (swimming, bowling).  As 1999 ended, we were not where we had hoped to be with regard to the raising of funds to support the other youth programs within the UHPGC umbrella (Tutorial Services, ACT Prep Classes, and Recreation Center).  Adult Services, Counseling Services, Auxiliary Services are still in the developmental stage owing to the lack of adequate funding to make them operational.  The Recreational Center being operated largely by church support and is funded through that mechanism.

2000 Outlook

The units operating within the oversight responsibility of the Union Hill Personal Growth Center are in varied stages of their development.  With the exception of the Union Hill Child Development Center and the Operation Nehemiah programs that existed prior to the incorporation of the UHPGC, all of the other programs are less than one-year of operation.  It is the goals of the UHPGC to provide the governance, funding, and accountability to ensure the most cost effective program and services delivery and to make all of its units operational within the next fiscal year.  The UHPGC is committed to making a significant positive impact of the Quality of Life for the Huntsville/Madison County community through its offering of educational, cultural, and recreational programs and services.  We will continue to keep you informed of our progress.  We take great satisfaction in the dedication and energy of our board members and volunteers.

We thank you, our contributors and supporters, for your support.
